My past experiences working with the Mad Men were high-energy, rock-and-roll-type projects, so this was quite the contrast! They were looking for "hyper-realistic" design. So, on one hand, I was trying to honor that impetus; on the other hand, if I took that direction too literally, the show would look flat.

Ultimately, foliage texture lent credence to the "outdoor" portion of the set, while windows, practicals, and exact color choices brought the salon to life.

Not the best cyc lighting I've done, but considering the $0 available and the proximity of the set, I'll take it!
